Janlon Creek's California Gurl CGC WC

K 8/22/2010 ~ 5/9/2016
When Jan told me at Potomac 2009, that they were planning a frozen Arnold litter, and that she wanted me to have a bitch puppy, I had no idea how truly special that puppy would become... Katy was kind of a Plain Jane puppy at first, then as she matured, she got more beautiful, inside and out, by the day. When she came home with us, she was quickly dubbed "Miss Perfect" by my family. I don't think she had a single potty accident in the house, and never ever chewed anything that wasn't hers.  She did love her toilet paper rolls taken right off the holder, but, she just happily carried them around, no damage done and dry. She was naturally such a good gurl off lead that we rarely leashed her, she just knew to stay close. Katy was an awesome boat dog, an excellent retriever, and could swim all day long, in the Delta, various Lakes, or the Pacific Ocean. She easily earned her WC and CGC with very little training, and could have gone much further in both venues. I had made plans for us to presue more activities in her retirement after she recovered from her final litter. Katy gave me three gorgeous litters of puppies, and was a wonderful, loving, caring mother and loved playing with her babies. She left me with 5 three week old, beautiful puppies, that she had just started weaning, it's like she knew they were old enough to be okay without her.

Katy never met someone she didn't like, she absolutely 100% adored my husband. The Moon and the Stars revolved around him, and she was his Heart Dog. She and I had an inexplicable bond, but when Rob entered the room, no one else existed for her. When Rob came home from work in the evening, he liked to watch the news in his recliner, once he got all settled, Katy would ask to get up on his lap, it was "their" time to relax to reconnect after the day apart.

From her silly Chewbacca noises, play bows, and running when she heard my hair dryer going so she could get blown on, she was unique and special. Katy touched so many people's lives, as a puppy, people would stop their cars to get out and to meet her, to tell me how beautiful she was. She travelled with us a lot, camping, boating, fishing, day trips and overnighters, she even rode along on our drive across the country to Potomac, making many friends along the way. She made everyone she met feel special, like they were the only people in the World. Katy was sweet, smart, charming, engaging, funny, silly, loving, playful, and goofy, yet mature and serious too. Absolutely everything a Labrador should be, and then some.

Katy left a huge void here, one that may never be filled, but never ever forgotten. I will miss you everyday Katy, rest well my love...

I want to thank Jan Grannemann (Janrod), Debbie Morton (Kalon), and Marilee Rianda (Picklecreek), for allowing me the honor and very special opportunity to own a piece of Labrador History with a gorgeous  CH Dickendall Arnold "Arnold" daughter and Multi BISS & BOSS Ch Janlon's Light My Fire "Striker" grand-daughter.

The litter was a result is a very special breeding with frozen semen that travelled from Texas, Australia, Japan, Alaska, Kansas City, San Francisco, Grass Valley, San Jose and finally to San Ramon. Around the World and now a part of him lives here in my California Gurl "Katy"! She is named after a Katy perry song popular the Summer of 2010.
